WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTOS

Lilly VooDoo Monroe. This dog is such an angel. I adore her tiny self so much. Only 3 years old and 3.6lb Lilly Monroe came to us from Corpus. Lilly had an odd wound on her side. She was in A LOT of pain. Monday morning we took her to the vet to see what this odd wound was. This wound appeared black and closed, almost scabbed, I was hoping it was an old wound on the mend, but unfortunately, I was only right about one thing, it was an old wound but not on the mend at all. The black you see in the first photo is dead necrotizing tissue. Without healthy tissue and scar tissue able to cover the wound and heal, Lilly was in a lot of pain and very sensitive. In order for Lilly Monroe to heal properly, all the dead tissue had to be removed, leaving a gaping hole in little Lilly's body. It will take a couple months of vet visits, wound cleaning, medication and bandage changes, which will need to be done at the vet's office due to the severity of the wound and the special medication they apply. I cried for her while she was such a trooper, I actually think I did worse than she did. Miss Monroe is in pain, a tad loopy, being syringe fed food and water at home with me in a soft heated bed getting around the clock care. If anyone would like to donate to Lilly VooDoo Monroe and her recovery, as the every other day bandage changes and medication can really add up, we would greatly appreciate it.
